Hitting the Cold Spots

Hitting the Cold Spots is the name of the free, home energy advice service available to Hampshire residents. The service is funded by Hampshire County Council and delivered by our friendly and experienced energy advisers here at the Environment Centre (tEC).

The service offers one-to-one advice over the phone to help residents keep their home at a comfortable temperature all year round, as well as ensuring their household energy use is as efficient as possible. It also helps people understand and manage their energy bills, sign up for priority services, manage damp and mould problems and more. There are lots of useful articles on the project’s dedicated website.

Hitting the Cold Spots operates on a case-by-case basis; recognising that each household has a different set of circumstances. Some clients, for example those on a low income and living with health conditions, could be eligible for a home visit and even funding to replace heating and hot water systems.

The team’s energy advisers keep up to date with local and national grants, funding streams and support services that clients could be eligible for. From there, they help clients apply and are on hand to answer questions every step of the way. Lots of our Hitting the Cold Spots clients have benefited from home improvements including loft insulation, new boilers, radiators and more.

Hitting the Cold Spots is a completely free and impartial advice service. It’s designed to help the county’s most vulnerable residents live more comfortably so if you’re worried about paying energy bills or staying warm and well at home, give us a call on 0800 804 8601 or email staywarm@environmentcentre.com.
