Volunteer opportunity

Do you know someone who could be an Energy Champion this spring?

We’re looking for volunteer Energy Champions to join us during this exciting, crucial point in the My Home Made Better calendar.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for individuals who understand the value and impact of making homes more energy efficient. Our Energy Champions are able to inspire and motivate others to take their first steps.

What they’ll be doing

The Energy Champion role is flexible to suit individual preferences, skills and availability. As a starting point, an Energy Champion could:

📢 Promote My Home Made Better by putting posters up, giving out leaflets, posting on social media or speaking to groups in their local community.

👋 Join a local retrofit adviser at a public event.

🏡 Invite others to see the changes they’ve made in their own home. Open Homes are organised and insured by the My Home Made Better team.

Why now?

The warmer months are an important part of the My Home Made Better calendar. Our clients are ready to talk, plan, and head outdoors to the summer events we’ll be attending!

In addition, some of our audience will have had a thermal imaging survey carried out during the winter. It’s essential that we offer these residents the next step on their home energy efficiency journey.

Training

We ask our Energy Champions to complete a two-hour, online training session, usually held in an evening. During the session, attendees will learn about whole-house retrofit and the different ways to improve energy efficiency at home.

We’ll also introduce the My Home Made Better service, what it can offer homeowners, and how volunteers can get involved in hours that suit their interests and availability.

Ready to learn more?

If you, or someone you know, is interested in becoming a My Home Made Better Energy Champion, please get in touch by emailing myhome@environmentcentre.com. We look forward to welcoming you to the team!

“This training provided valuable insights into home energy efficiency and how to support others on their retrofit journey.”
