Southampton residents can get free help with staying warm and well at home again this winter.
As part of its commitment to ensuring every Southampton resident lives in a good quality, safe and warm home, Southampton City Council funds the Environment Centre (tEC), to deliver Southampton Healthy Homes; the city’s affordable warmth and energy advice service.

Our friendly team helps residents across three main themes:
Accessing funding: Southampton Healthy Homes helps residents source grants and funding from local, national and charitable organisations to cover the cost of the work required to increase a property’s comfort and energy efficiency.
Managing complex billing and supplier issues: The team supports residents who are experiencing complicated situations with their energy supplier. This can include speaking to the supplier on the resident’s behalf.
Advice, guidance and signposting: Southampton Healthy Homes also offers residents advice and guidance on topics such as saving energy through behaviour change, selecting energy tariffs, and dealing with damp and mould. Thanks to a strong partnership of organisations across the city, the team also refers individuals to other local charities and services to ensure they receive the holistic and comprehensive support they require.

In 2024-25, Southampton Healthy Homes:
- facilitated 123 large energy efficiency / low carbon measure installations, resulting in:
- Estimated lifetime savings of >1,600 tonnes of CO2e
- Estimated lifetime savings of > £574,000
- provided information, advice and guidance to 1,330 households.
- achieved more than £1.43 million in gains/savings for residents.
Top-up funding
Southampton City Council has recently committed additional funding to the service. This boost means more people can live comfortably at home; reducing pressure on the NHS as well as the core project budget.
