Clean Air Night: Raising awareness of the impact of burning wood in the home.

We’re proud to be an official supporter of Global Action Plan’s Clean Air Night; a campaign that raises awareness of the impact of burning wood in the home.

Global Action Plan reports that burning wood is the most polluting way to heat a home, and contributes to serious health conditions for people across the UK.

As the local charity delivering specialist advice on home heating in Southampton, Hampshire and Portsmouth, it’s vital that we raise awareness of this research and encourage our audiences to learn how their heating could affect their health.

So, how exactly are we spreading the word this Clean Air Night?

🏥 We’re providing our engaged network of healthcare professionals with the training, information and resources they need to support conversations with patients.

😊 We’re offering in-person engagement time at GP surgeries in Southampton.

💬 We’ve briefed Southampton City Council councillors; highlighting the impact that wood burning has on public health and the environment.

🔥 We’re targeting communications in woodburning hotspots, to deepen residents’ understanding of the issues.

📻 And lastly, we took part in a radio interview this morning (22nd January 2026). Keep an eye on Voice FM’s website and social media channels for the replay.

If you’d like to find cleaner, healthier alternatives to burning wood, please get in touch by emailing cleanair@environmentcentre.com, or by giving us a call on 0800 804 8601.
