Clean Air Day – Thursday, 18th June 2026
Did you know that air pollution is the biggest environmental risk to our health?
Reducing levels of harmful air pollution in our communities – and our exposure to it – has immediate health benefits for us all, and helps both children and adults live longer and healthier lives.
That’s why we’re supporting Global Action Plan’s Clean Air Day again this year.
We’ve pulled together our top tips for reducing your exposure to air pollution ⤵️
📍 Use Southampton City Council’s Airmap to plan a local active travel route along quieter paths. This nifty little tool even tells you how much you’ll reduce your exposure to pollution compared to other widely used routing apps.
🚌 Choose active and sustainable transport with the My Journey Hampshire planning tool. From live bus and rail departures to the latest discount codes, this resource makes healthier living both practical and easy.
🔥 Find alternatives to bonfires, because garden waste has so much to give!
👋 Get involved with Clean Air Day at Southampton Bargate on Thursday, 18th June 2026 from 1.30pm – 5.30pm. We’ll be there along with the city council, Bluestar, Voi, the University of Southampton, Tranquil City and other organisations working hard to make Southampton a cleaner, healthier city to live and work.
🏡 Choose clean home heating on those chilly winter evenings. Summer is a great time to carry out home upgrades, and we’re here to help.
